simple question about changing URL

    I am gunshy about making huge changes after a disastrous attempt to upgrade my MT2 to MT3. But now I’m in WordPress and am finding my way okay.

    My original site was at http://www.quietfish.com/notebook.

    The WP site I am working on is at http://www.quietfish.com/wordpress. When I’ve got it the way I’d like it I’d like to archive my old files at /notebook and rename the /wordpress directory as /notebook.

    If I go into my ws-FTP and rename the /wordpress folder will all of my new WP files/links still work?

    I’m not crazy about going into the htaccess file and I would like to avoid that if at all possible.
