Simple thumbnail galleries have stopped working (I don’t know when that happened, we only realized now). It doesn’t mater if I insert them via shortcode or via foo gallery block, or if it is just one per page or several ones as in this example (and no matter if they are lined up in columns or just one after under the other without columns).

If there is only one single thumbnail gallery on a page, a click on it will show the first image in the lightbox but nothing more.

If there are several single thumbnail galleries lined up on a page (no matter if in columns or not, or as shortcode or foo gallery block) the click on one of them will load a (never set up) gallery of the first images of said galleries – as if the gallery list was a simple wordpress gallery of those first images.

When I set them up years ago, a click on each single thumbnail gallery used to show their own specific gallery.

I’ve tried several lightboxes, including the foo lightbox and none was working except WP Featherlight (which I don’t trust to use because it’s not update anymore). At the moment I use Lightbox by Photoswipe which works fine with Foo Gallery on all other websites I use it on. I just don’t use Single Thumbnail Galleries there but the normal responsive ones. I cannot do that here though. And it’s not related to any other plugin I use or cache issues. I’ve checked them all.

    Hi @annetteschwindt

For the Single Thumbnail Gallery template, the lightbox you are currently using – Photoswipe – will not be able to load the other images of that gallery.

To resolve this issue, kindly install and activate FooBox and then set the lighbox to FooBox as shown in this linked image: https://prnt.sc/Dj–Elmi5ffJ

    Kind regards,
    Elvis.

Great, that worked. Thank you! Could you please tell me what the problem with the other Lightbox is? Why it is not working?

    Hi @annetteschwindt

We’re glad to learn that we were able to help you out with this.

The issue with the Photoswipe lightbox is that it does not seem to be able to recognize the other images in the gallery apart from the first one.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’ll be happy to help.
Lastly, if you don’t mind and have a spare few seconds, could you please rate FooGallery on WordPress (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/foogallery/reviews/#new-post), as that really helps our reputation within the WordPress plugin repository. We’ll be really grateful to you for that.

If you can’t of course that’s fine too! Thanks in advance either way.

    Kind regards,
    Elvis.

    Done. And thank you again.

    Just a comment about that:

Lightbox with PhotoSwipe needs to “see” the image in the HTML code before it is sent to the browesr, so it can add the needed data-lbwps-attributes to the image links, since PhotoSwipe needs to know the dimensions of the images to display. Technically it will use the final HTML code and run a filter on that.

This also means that images only added using JavaScript in the browser will likely not work since the frontend script of my plugin will only use image links with the required attributes.

If FooGallery provides a hook to get the images before they are send to the browser, it may be possible to add support for that in Lightbox with PhotoSwipe as well (including the option to display galleries in their own collection as it is already the case with “classic” galleries created by WordPress and Gutenberg gallery blocks).

Edit: (I am the author of Lightbox with PhotoSwipe)

    Thank you for your explanation.

(Btw. I realised the gallery is called Single Thumbnail Gallery, not simple…, Sorry for that.)
