Hi all, I have a website with one main and two subs. I’m looking for a solution that would allow me to have single membership database for all three websites. I tried using Paid Membership Pro, but it seems to create a separate membership list for each of the sub-sites.
On my network, there are free and paid elements on each of the sub-sites. I would like my members to get access to all free content on all sub-sites and all paid content on all sub-sites, without having to register on each sub-site separately. Is there a plugin/easy solution that does that? Many thanks!

Not an “easy solution” no. There are some paid plugins from places like WPMUDev that purport to do that.

And if you’re not well versed in WordPress, Multisite is a bad place to start out in.

@ipstenu, thanks for responding! Actually I found a solution. I’m using S2members and Multisite User Management plugins. It’s not perfect, but together they do 95% of what I need. Unless the number of my paid users grows significantly (wouldn’t that be nice!? :)), the rest is manageable.
I’ve been using WP for over 5 years now, but multisite is a new thing for me.
    Thanks!

Okay, just making sure 🙂 We get a lot of WP newbies who think starting in Multisite is great and … yeaaaaaah. No 🙂

The thing to keep in mind is that membership is twofold.

    1) Users belong to the network

    2) User ROLES are handled per site.

So it’s possible to have no role on a site, but still be a member of the network. That’s usually where the headaches come in.

    Resolved.

Yes – user roles will require manual tweaking on my part, but Multisite User Management plugin does most of the job. So I’m happy.
