• Hi There,

My wife has a food blog at http://www.fussyeater.net. Last night she ran updates to wordpress installation and/or plugins and since then the site is not working including via admin URL. Things I have tried already:

    – Rename plugins folder and add temp empty plugins folder
    – Disable plugins in database
    – Delete and re-add wp-contents and wp-includes

It is very important that I get the blog back ASAP as it has years worth of posts and this is used in a professional capacity. If it helps justhost sent an email the other day to say they were doing an emergency update to the blog which started with “A new version of the WordPress plugin “” (3.4.3) has been released. “. I hope someone can help me cause I’m at my wit’s end 🙁

  • Did you rename the current theme – which forces WP to use a default theme?

BTW, WP is on 4.2 – so not sure what 3.4.3 refers to.

    Sorry I should correct myself there! I didn’t re-add wp-contents! it was wp-admin! pre-6am brain block there.

Yes I also tried the renaming themes trick, forgot to mention that. I deleted all themes besides twentyfifteen (which is not what was being used).

    Try enabling debug –

BTW, what theme is/was the site running?

I also have no idea what the 3.4.3 refers to 🙁 I’ve just submitted a ticket to justhost for their support on this also. In terms of what theme was being used, I also have no idea because I set this blog up 3 – 4 years ago for my wife. I -think- it is twentytwelve that was being used.

Ah, I’m guessing that was for JetPack –

    http://jetpack.me/news/

It was a security release – and actually that might well have crashed the site because it is a large plugins – and a number of people did have trouble with that update. But you said you’d removed all plugins?

I read in other threads something about jetpack, but when I looked in the plugins folder I never saw any folder for jetpack. However yes, I renamed the plugins folder (essentially ‘deleting it’) already AND disable plugins via myphpadmin in the DB.

I just tried to enable debugging like you advised and nothing happens, just a blank page. I enabled define(‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true); but no error displayed inside the page.

    Edit: OH MY GOD THANK YOU. I added another line from that debug page into my config and finally I got somewhere. In the admin URL it said the database needed to be updated 🙂 I did that and I finally was able to get in. Only thing is the blog looks like turd now cause I deleted the theme ;;

Same has happened to me, just white blank shows front end url’s and back end url’s

    It’s BACK!!

@jomik12 – please start your own thread – jumping into someone else’s is not a good way to get help – start here:

Thanks again for the help. I guess this will be a good opportunity to glam the blog up 🙂

LOL – You can likely switch back to whichever theme you want. Do make a back up of the site and database ASAP!

Can you link me to any best practice for making backups? I would HATE to lose this blog and my partner would cry her eyes out.

Sure, looks like a huge investment in that site for sure –
