• I’m sorry, I am very ignorant on what version of Word Press my site was on, but was looking through the functions.php, tried to add a line of code to allow exe file on my website, hit update, then went to view the page, blank screen.

I then started to panic, and removed the line of code and updated again, still nothing. I saved the functions.php prior to the temporary change and then replaced what was in there with the original from the working site, still nothing.

I then went to my host, tried restore, and nothing.

    Can anybody help???

Sometimes it helps to delete the old functions.php file completely, and then put in a new one. Even if it’s technically the same code.

Thank you. Now when I try to load the site I get this: Parse error: parse error, unexpected ‘}’ in /services16/webpages/util/l/u/lu6b9eaj.myutilitysite.com/tx3tech.com/public/wp-content/themes/u-design/functions.php on line 1451

The problem is I don’t know how to fix it now?

if your functions file is the trouble and replacing it did not help, try removing the theme entirely via FTP–revert back to the default theme.

do you have a recent backup?
