• So, I updated MYSQL so I could update to the latest version of WordPress and BOOM! all of a sudden my site went down with the database gone! So, I contacted tech support and it turns out my database was deleted (or some other lame excuse) when I updated. Now they have fixed MYSQL, but is there any way to restore my old database? I backed up the site before I attempted to upgrade MYSQL, so I have all my WordPress files, but is there any way to restore the site to how it was? I have tried creating a new database (with the same name as the old one) and now I just get a blank page at http://www.jazzsermon.com

When I try to import the .tar.gz file into the new database nothing seems to happen…

Any and all help would be awesome! After 2 years I would hate to lose my site.

  • Do you have a recent, pre-upgrade, database backup? Do your hosts? Without that backup, your old site is toast, I’m afraid 🙁

Well, I did a “site” backup. Not sure if that includes a database backup? How would I know? In my control panel the backup tool says that “Backups are restore points for your website content”.

You would need to ask your hosts if this includes a database backup and whether you can “restore” from this backup after the MySQL upgrade.

    Will do. Thanks!
