Site Hacked & Restablishing Database

Hi,

My site was hacked and I’m in the process of following the directions listed here (http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked). I’ve completed the following steps so far:

1. Scanned my computer (Nothing found)
2. Checked with my hosting provider (Nothing on their end as of yet)
3. Changed passwords for my blog users & MySQL users (Having difficulty changing the FTP password)

Now since I’ve done all that when I go to my site, I get the following message:
Error establishing a database connection

Any help on what I did wrong or what I need to do to get my site back up and running?
