Site Kit error

Site Kit has stopped working and shows the following error in the dashboard:

The most likely problem / conflict is with the Responsive Blocks – WordPress Gutenberg Blocks plugin by CyberChimps. I cannot disable this plugin because I used it extensively in a 4000 word post.

Please let me know if there is a solution

Hi @nataliejuna,

Thanks for getting in touch. Based on the details you kindly provided this error seems is likely due to a plugin conflict as we have seen in the past usually with a configuration with an optimization plugin, possibly minification or combining of JavaScript assets.

When applied these JavaScript can result in unpredictable behavior with other plugins, including the admin toolbar and Site Kit.

As you suspect this may be a conflict with the Responsive Blocks – WordPress Gutenberg Blocks plugin, you can actually check this along with all other plugins by following our troubleshooting steps here. This will allow you to view Site Kit as if all other plugins are disabled but with no impact to your website on the frontend.

If you still see the same in troubleshooting I’d also suggest that if you are currently using any optimization plugins on your site, to temporarily deactivate them manually and inform me if the issue remains. You can re-activate the plugin afterwards. If the issue no longer occurs I’d be happy to check the settings with you for any possible cause. If the issue remains please share your Site Health information and we can investigate further.

We have more details on a similar error on the plugin website. The error described here, which differs slightly, is also as a result of particular configurations applied from a caching or optimization plugin.

@ruths1111 Thanks for sharing your information. Could I please ask if you have tried temporarily deactivating your WP super cache plugin and checking Site Kit once more? This error has been seen previously because of particular settings within these types of optimization plugins.

I tried disabling WP super cache and it did not solve the problem.

I don’t know much about caching. I installed WP super cache because it was recommended for my theme, and followed the setting instructions here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/. I do have a Tools > Site Health warning about caching – it says I should use a “persistent object cache”. I will install a different cache plugin if you believe it will help.

@ruths1111 Thanks for confirming. Can I also check that you encountered the same when following the troubleshooting steps suggested above? You could also try manually deactivating plugins on your site one by one, checking Site Kit between each to see if the error clears.

You can also try temporarily deactivating any browser extensions if you have any active to check for conflicts here also. If after the checks above you continue to see this, could you please share a recording of this in action along with any console errors you see with it.
