Site kit installation Issue
-
Thanks for reaching out @officialsandeepanand. Based on the error you’re encountering, I suspect that what may be happening is some of your site URLs on the Site Kit service don’t match your current set up for your site. This may be based on a previous site URL. In order for me to request doing so, please share the following:
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred. If you’re using a custom wp-admin path or WordPress files in their own directory, please share your current setup in the additional information field.
- What is the URL of the page where you see this error? I ask as this may contain a no longer valid callback URL, based on your previous site. If so, you may be able to correct the URL to march your current setup in order to proceed.
- Were you able to successfully connect Site Kit on this site previously?
Note that another option to ensure you can complete set up, is to modify your site URLs in order to proceed, adding or removing a www path.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
I’m just following up with you to check whether the error remains? If so please share the information requested above and we can investigate further.
I am still facing the same issue and have already shared the details on the form. Check with my email address for my info.
Thanks for the update @officialsandeepanand. While I did receive your Site Health information, I didn’t see any response to the following, which would be of use in order to request a reset of your site if required:
- What is the URL of the page where you see this error? I ask as this may contain a no longer valid callback URL, based on your previous site. If so, you may be able to correct the URL to march your current setup in order to proceed.
- Were you able to successfully connect Site Kit on this site previously?
If you can share these, please do so and I can advise on this further. Note also that a potential workaround for the issue you’re facing, is to add a www path for your site, by following the steps below:
- Visit your site settings (Settings > General).
- Change your site address (URL) and WordPress address (URL) from
https://sandeepanand.intohttps://www.sandeepanand.in. - Press the save button.
- Attempt Site Kit setup once more after logging back into your site.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above, and please do share answers to the questions asked above if you prefer not to update your site URLs. Thank you.
Hey James, thanks for the follow-up and update. Here are my responses
- What is the URL of the page where you see this error? I ask as this may contain a no longer valid callback URL, based on your previous site. If so, you may be able to correct the URL to march your current setup in order to proceed. [https://www.sandeepanand.in/wp-admin/index.php?action=googlesitekit_proxy_setup_start&nonce=ec056edb9c] This is where I attempt to sign in Site Kit with my Google account.
- Were you able to successfully connect Site Kit on this site previously? [Yes, I have been using Site Kit on this website for over 2 years now.]
I also tried changing the URL, still no luck, getting the same error. “The request to the authentication proxy has failed with an error: a site with the given URL already exists Get help.”
Thanks for sharing the additional information @officialsandeepanand. Based on this, including what looks like a currently valid callback path, I’ve requested an update of your site records on the Site Kit service. Hopefully this will be complete at some stage this week, or if not early next week. Unfortunately until that time, I don’t have any known workarounds that you can apply.
I’ll let you know where as soon as I have an update. Many thanks for your patience on this.
Thanks for your patience on this @officialsandeepanand. We updated the records for your site now, and the issue may have been one record set with your site URL as insecure (http), as opposed to https. As this is not updated, can you give it another try now and let me know how you get on? Thank you.
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
