    Hello,
The Site Kit plugin was originally set up by the old website developer on their old website.

I am the new website developer who just launched the new website, and I have been added to Analytics and Search Console, (but not as an admin with the ability to change users).

When I try to set up Site Kit on the new website I get this message:
Site Kit has already been configured by another admin of this site. To use Site Kit as well, sign in with your Google account which has access to Google services for this site (e.g. Google Analytics). Once you complete the 3 setup steps, you’ll see stats from all activated Google services.
    And this error:
The request to the authentication proxy has failed with an error: invalid ‘site_id’ or ‘site_secret’

Unfortunately, I cannot get to settings to reset SiteKit. I also attempted this in an incognito window, but no change.

    What to do?
    – Would removing the old developer as an admin to Analytics solve the problem?
    – Would upgrading me to an admin on Analytics solve the problem?
    – Are there any mySQL tables that need to be removed to reset SiteKit?

Appreciate any ideas you have… thanks!

Thanks for reaching out @dlmweb. The “Site Kit has already been configured by another admin of this site.” message is normal and expected if you are an administrator and another administrator already set up the plugin.

In relation to the “error: invalid ‘site_id’ or ‘site_secret’” message, this can usually be addressed by resetting the plugin via Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit, which you should have access to. Note that by resetting, the other administrator who previously set up Site Kit, will have to set the plugin up once more. You will also need to connect all the previously connected services (ie. Analytics, AdSense and Tag Manger if applicable). As long as you have access to the Analytics property, this shouldn’t be a problem.

If you run into any issues after resetting, share any errors you encounter here, or ask any questions.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thanks so much for your response. Yes, this was the dot I was missing:  Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit

All is working fine now – thanks so much!

Glad to hear that worked for you. If you run into any further errors or if you have any Site Kit related queries, be sure to get in touch.

If you have a moment free please also consider leaving a review after testing out the dashboard and features that the plugin provides.

    Best of luck.
