    Hi,

My sitemap is empty, I try to configure it well but nothing changes.

The url wwww.mydomain.com/sitemap.xml only shows “<urlset/>”, and nothing more.

By the way, on the contrary my sitemap-news.xml works well…

    Thanks for the help.

Hi, can you share a link to your sitemap? You can use the contact form on http://status301.net/contact-en/ if you prefer to keep it private.

Here is the link : http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap.xml

    And here is the sitemap-news : http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap-news.xml
As you can see it works well.

Note that until few days ago I was using YOAST, but I had to uninstall it due to high CPU usage on my server.

    Thanks for your help.

Wow ! Sorry for all these posts. They didn’t show when I posted them, so I retried several times.

It looks like there is a static file called sitemap.xml in your site root. You’ll need to remove that file, after which the sitemap will become the same as on the feed native URL http://www.motorevue.com/?feed=sitemap

    Hi,

    The file was deleted.
But is that not a problem that my sitemap is accessible via the url : /?feed=sitemap and not via /sitemap.xml ?
Plus the Google Search Console says that my sitemap filetype is not supported (sitemap-posttype-post.xml one)

    Thanks for your help.

By deleting the static file, you made the same sitemap also accessible via /sitemap.xml instead of only via /?feed=sitemap

Plus the Google Search Console says that my sitemap filetype is not supported (sitemap-posttype-post.xml one)

Looks like there is a PHP memory error occurring. Go to Settings > Reading and find the Settings link after Posts in the XML Sitemap section. Click that link to open up more advanced options. Set “Split by” to “Year” (or “Month” if needed).

    Hi,

Although the static file was deleted, my sitemap (/sitemap.xml) is still empty :/. I was using YOAST until few days ago, do you know if some people have had some problem with YOAST before ? (I deactivated it, not deleted)

And the option “split by” was already set on “Year”, I switched to “Month”, but nothing changed.

Note that in my Google Search Console I can correctly see the sitemaps from /sitemap.xml, which are the same that those in the /?feed=sitemap.

But nothing on the url /sitemap.xml

I can see your sitemap on http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap.xml just fine. Maybe you need to clear the browser cache before revisiting your sitemap to see the latest version.

It lists http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap-posttype-post.2016.xml for example among all other years, and all work exept http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap-posttype-post.2015.xml which is not rendering completely. How many posts did you publish in that year?

    Try setting to “Month”.

You were right I just had to clear my browser cache… sorry. Sometimes you are just too focused to see the simplest solution !

Concerning the year 2015, we published hundred of posts this year.

By the way, I have another issue : it seems the meta descriptions I fill does not appear in the code…

    Thanks again for your help.

OK then it does not seem likely to be a PHP memory issue. Now that your posts are split by month, I see that two sitemaps are showing an issue:
    http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap-posttype-post.201512.xml
    http://www.motorevue.com/sitemap-posttype-post.201511.xml

Somehow the process is interrupted before completion. Do you have access to error logs (from you hosting account or web server) and if so, can you find any errors related to these two requests?

By the way, I have another issue : it seems the meta descriptions I fill does not appear in the code…

My plugin only does a sitemap, it’s not a complete SEO plugin like Yoast’s solution.
