    Hey there,
first of all I am a noob, just gotten into wordpress!
I use it to run my blog called 5monthsiniceland.com.

I wanted to do some search engine optimization. I submitted my sitemap.xml file generated by Yoast SEO to Google and Bing but now I think the file is broken. When clicking on it, I only get to a site with a little bit of text:
    http://www.5monthsiniceland.com/sitemap_index.xml

I know it worked before. I installed the following plugins:
    WP Performance Score Booster
    WP Smush
    WP Super Cache
After that it didn’t work any more.

I would appreciate any help. Please keep in mind, that I have almost no experience with wordpress, so please explain extensively 😀

    Thanks to everybody in advance!
    Best, Nils

  • I have a similar problem.
I am using SEO for many years. A have changed a permalink structure a little bit, and I wanted to rebuild the sitemap accordingly. Switched off, the switch on again. Suprisingly, there is no sitemap at all.
    Please help.
    I use version 3.6.1

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards, Zsolt

Yes I have changed my permalink structure as well, maybe that is the problem.
Let’s hope there is someone who knows how to fix it 🙂

Sometimes resetting the permalink structure will quickly solve a 404 error from a recent change to your installation. Go to Admin > Settings > Permalinks and click save without altering anything.

    Thanks for the Tip!
I already did that, since it is listed on the Yoast SEO help page.
I tried everything on there 😀
    But it didn’t change anything.

The sitemap can also be retrieved via an ‘ugly’ URL which is not working either.

This typically means something either in your setup or on your server is conflicting. Have you ran a conflict check by disabling everything and only activating Yoast SEO on a default theme? If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we wrote a small guide that will walk you through the steps. You can find it here: How To Check For Plugin Conflicts

Okay, I will do this. Thank you 🙂

    1. I addet a new rewrite rule to the theme, and a flush rewrite rule was necessary to do.
    2. Before this action there was sitemap. Consequently: there is no plugin conflicts.

In spite of that I will reset everything and check plugin/theme conflict. If you have any other idea, please tell me.

@batyuvitez If you have a similar issue, please open a new request. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!
