Which widget do I have to use to have icons or buttons displayed in a row one below the other? Do I need the premium version to do so?

Hi, you can use the Button Grid Widget which can be activated at Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets.

Thank you for your help. I tried the Button Grid Widget before, but where can I select to display the buttons lenthwise?

Hi, within the widget Layout > Desktop > Buttons Per Line.
