So I believe what they really meant to say is “Largest Contentful Paint image was not eagerly loaded”

That’s a new recommendation I haven’t seen from Google before either, though many folks will recommend not lazy loading above-the-fold images.

Disabling lazy load for any image in EWWW IO suppresses the auto-scaling ability also, but you can configure a certain number of images to bypass lazy loading via the eio_lazy_fold filter. The default is 0, and you can return any integer to tell EWWW IO to skip that many images.
