Slider captions
-
Hi…how do I enable slider captions? I have three images on my homepage slider and would like to add captions with the transparent background like is on your theme demo.
Thanks!

You can enable caption through Featured Slider settings.
Click [Customize] -> [Featured Slider] -> [Slider Settings] -> Check the box ‘Enable Caption’.
Thanks
Hi…I finally figured this out…basically the front page slider pulls the featured image and the caption text from a post.
I am completely new to wordpress and it would have been helpful if that had been clearer somewhere in the docs or the dashboard or somewhere! It does look good though. Is there some way to NOT have the caption link to a post because I just want the slider for the image and the caption, not to have it link to a blog post.
Thanks!
Hi again, you requested my website, it is:
http://emptybottle.com.sgAs you can see I’ve removed the captions from the slider images because I just want the images to show, not link to a blog page. I would, however, like to use my blog page at some point and would like these empty blog posts not to show…is there any way to do that?
Hello, we can see you have managed to remove captions from slider.
However, we are not exactly clear as what you mean ’empty blog posts not to show’ and on which page ? Can you please specifically mention your request?I want to use slider without linking to blog post. Is that possible?
Sorry, separate way of creating slider other than from category post is not available in theme. Instead if you want to manage the slider and images differently then you can create separate category e.g. ‘sliders’ and select this category to only display them in slider.
Hope this resolves your query.
Thank you
I just found the following ticket:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/use-pages-with-slider-instead-of-posts?replies=9Can you please explain what is Category ID? I don’t see that description either…
This might help solve my problem!
Thanks!
On the Categories Panel, hover the mouse over the category name link and you will see the link address in your browser’s status bar (turn it on under View) or click the link. The last numbers in the link address is your category ID number.
It used to be clearly numbered in past versions of WordPress, but in current versions, it isn’t. That’s how you find it.
Thank you–I was able to find the ID number by showing the Status Bar under View. It’s the number that appears after “…category&tag_ID=” is that correct?
So I inserted it into the “Exclude Categories from Blog” options field, however, nothing seems to happen. The blog page (not yet live) is still showing the posts.
As far as I understood I think this was your main requirement:
Is there some way to NOT have the caption link to a post because I just want the slider for the image and the caption, not to have it link to a blog post.
.
To which I think have already answered it by suggesting you to make separate category for slider and select it for slider purpose only. This way would not need to exclude any category by ID since slider would just fetch the posts from that particular category.
Let me know if your requirement is other than what I have understood.
If so please create another ticket to discuss on it separately.Thank you 🙂
Hi…I did make separate category for slider purpose so Slider is showing images from those posts. The slider is not the issue now because I removed the caption-link to the blog posts, but when I publish the main blog page, it keep showing these posts which are meant only for the Slider. I don’t want them to show in the main blog page because they are empty.
Well, in order to exclude this from showing it in main blog page, you can follow this step:
Customize-> Theme Options -> Blog -> ‘Exclude categories in Blog’ (Here you input slider category ID). This would then exclude slider posts from appearing in main blog page.
Thank you.
Thanks…I tried this five days ago but it did not work. The slider blog posts are still also showing on the main blog page.
We had further tried debugging your issue. Problem is not with the theme templates or settings . It looks like you are using page builder by SiteOrigin to create the content on your blog page. Therefore our previous advice for excluding category does not work so you have to exclude the category from same specific page builder element that you are using to display on the blog posts.
Check the sample screenshot showing how to exclude your ‘Slider’ by using cat ID.

Hope this helps in addressing your overall requirements.
Thank you
I’m not actually using Page Builder…I was using WP Tiles though which doesn’t seem to work with category filtering. So I deactivated it and the category filtering on the theme seems to work. (-:
I guess I will try and find another widget for the blog post page–would you happen to know one that works with this theme (one that tiles the blog posts in a grid)?
Thanks for all your help!!
