I’m not sure I understand the question, but in overall delivering different image sizes for different screen sizes is pretty hard. And it’s something that’s definitely never should be baked in a theme.
And Feature image size in slider should be 640px × 300px, if that’s what you’re asking.

Should the image make the slider be that big (almost the whole screen). i looked at other websites with the same theme (got the url’s from the forums) and the image seems to be smaller.
Basically i just want to know why the image is displaying so big, and what i can do to make it appear smaller?

Theme is designed so that feature image in the slider needs to be 640px x 300px. It would take a lot of custom work to get it different size.
