Hi @planeo8
I am Laszlo from Nextendweb, we are the developers of Smart Slider 3.
Our blog has an article, where we describe how you can insert Smart Slider 3 sliders to various parts of the OceanWP theme. If you are interested, you can find the guide here:
Note: my colleague wrote this article back in 2020, so the UI of OceanWP might have changed since then, but thee concepts will be the same I believe.
Best regards,
Laszlo.
Thank you for your response. I use Smart Slider 3 on a number of different website and like its ease of use.
My particular question has to do with where on the OceanWP Customizer Menu can I find the option to add a Smart Slider 3 gallery of images to the header instead of adding a static image…with the other themes, I simply insert the Smart Slider Shortcode.
I can’t find the choice under “Header”.
Apparently OceanWP has updated its UI and the Customizer Menu is different than in the past.
Hi @planeo8
I installed the “Ocean Extra” plugin as we described in the guide. Then I navigated to WordPress side bar > Apperance >Customize > Header > General > Content, where they have a field named “Content After Header”. According to the description of the field, they accept shortcodes there, but the contents of that field weren’t rendered for me, although I used their “Minimal” header type. Maybe the developers of “OceanWP” will be able to provide you more details on this, whether if it is a bug, or additional features also have to be enabled.
What worked for me is the Custom header option. So I created a header template at:
- WordPress side bar > OceanWP > My Library
where I added the Smart Slider 3 slider. Then at
- WordPress side bar > Apperance >Customize > Header > General >Header type
I chose the “Custom Header” option, and at the “Custom Header Settings” I selected the template that I created for the header.
Hello @planeo8,
Thank you for reaching out,
Regardless of whether you’re using Ocean Posts Slider or any other slider, if you want to display a shortcode on a specific page, for example, right below the header we have a documentation that shows you how to load your desired shortcode in the right spot on a specific page using the provided instructions: https://docs.oceanwp.org/article/829-shortcodes-oceanwp-settings (Ocean Extra plugin is required for these settings).
If you want to place that shortcode (such as a slider) across your entire website, then you either need to use the dedicated header hooks in WordPress, or create a custom header menu, which we’ve also explained in the documentation: https://docs.oceanwp.org/article/355-how-to-create-a-custom-header
Hope it helps,
Best Regards
