Slider Navigation Using Thumbnails

When using the thumbnails to navigate through slider images non-sequentially (to jump, for example, from slide 1 to slide 5), the slider scrolls through each slide in succession going from the previously chosen slide to the next chosen slide. The effect is a blur of images. It makes some sense when using horizontal or vertical transition mode because they have the appearance of a slideshow, but it’s quite awkward-looking when using the fade transition as all the images appear to stack upon each other during the fade.
This obviously isn’t an issue when using the previous/next arrows on the main slider, but is for thumbnails or bullets where users have the ability to jump quickly through content.
Is there a way to override or minimize this effect and just transition from the old slide to the new slide without showing all the other slides in between?
