Slider and menu colour problem

Hi,

I’ve had this problem for years but never thought to post here.

The slider on my home page sometimes does not load the first article properly.
It puts a black bar to the side with the text.
Usually when this happens my customised menu colours all go to blue.
Please see images below of what I am talking about.

When the site does not load properly:

When it loads correctly it looks like this:

How can I fix this so the slider loads properly?
How can I have the menu colours always load properly? Even when you load straight to an article it sometimes makes the menu colours all blue.
