Slideshow block not working

When I am editing the page, the Slideshow block seems to work fine. But when I previous or publish I’m not seeing any of the pictures – just the left pointing arrow, and this doesn’t seem to do anything. I’ve tried disabling all the plugins except jetpack, but that doesn’t have any effect.
