Slows down page when many terms exist

    Hi, i noticed my single post loads very fast but the archives were BTF widget is present takes a long time to load. So i want to ask if there is a way to fix this, like lazy load the term list only when the dropdown is clicked instead of loading everything when the page load. I’m talking about many terms. Thanks for your reply.

    Hi,

    How many terms are we talking?
    I’ve done testing on like 4 taxonomies with around 500 terms in each without issues so this must be an edge case.

    Ok i went to check and one particular taxonomy had way more terms than i though (nearly 1700)
    The other 4 taxonomies have: 209, 7, 24, 31
    After excluding the 1700 one it loads way faster.
    I think i can live without it. Thanks.

    Hi,

    Okay I see. I’ve not tested for that amount sorry to say.
    I will look into lazyloading the terms but as it’s an edge case I can’t really prioritise it 🙂 It would require some refactoring of the code to work.

    Hopefully you’ll find BTF fine to use anyway!
    Another hackish way you might solve it is to up your server performance and also enable caching.
