how can i embed video in a smart way so that it doesn’t increase page load times?

basically i want to embed and show a video image/thumbnail exactly like here…

i haven’t yet found a plugin that does what i want, which is to
1) not load the video until the image is clicked
2) use the same image for the thumbnail/overlay as the video uses

hi James – thanks for the reply

i actually tried that plug and besides not being able to get it to work, i found that the dev has a paid version which he makes no mention of until after it is installed – very crappy behavior IMO

i’m open to other suggestions if you have any 🙂

Regarding it not working, have you tried asking at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/lazy-load-for-videos ? The developer seems to be fairly active there.

If there is a paid version, I’m sure it’s just so the developer can get some compensation for the work he was provided for free.
