Solution for using /mnt/downloads
-
Hello; I have discovered that the ability to use the /mnt directory of my server for uploading was removed after version 3.53 – items in a directory there still are linked, but new files cannot be loaded there.
To get around this – since I have hundreds of gigabytes in a directory there and since it allows a separate rsync backup instead of an every growing huge media file – I upload version 3.53 when needed to place and attach new files for new Downloads posts. …then immediately replace it with the current version. Get it from: <https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/download-manager/advanced/>
3.70 had a couple security bugs that have been addressed in current versions (according to Wordfence: <https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/wordpress-plugins/download-manager/download-manager-3270-authenticated-contributor-stored-cross-site-scripting-via-shortcode> and <https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/wordpress-plugins/download-manager/download-manager-3270-insufficient-authorization-to-information-disclosure>,
… so, again, DO NOT LEAVE 3.53 on your system after using it. Upgrade to the latest version.
Of course, it would be great to have the ability to use the /mnt directory repaired, as /mnt is a regularly used place for Ubuntu and the like.
Good luck to us all.
