Solves the device range problems
-
This interface of a custom menu widget have been thought through and the author is obvius familar with the “problems” Parent and Child pages play along.
This is perfect widget for menues on touch devices. When “no hover” to show children content / pages whitch at the same time has children, OR NOT children, and making the same “levels” be present in a clarified view for the visitor.
Ive been using another nearby widget for many years (Advanced menu widget) but I needed a solution can can handle a more modern logic.
The problem I got that is solved with this plugin:
When a parent page has content, and the children only are in view, ths user 99% will “miss” the parent couse its treated more than a “headline” or “category title” for the human mind. But any breadcrumb will point to the parent and the context / site view. The visitor easy get confused.
And If children has no children, I want the menu to stay at the “same level” as the current page or only current siblings…
This plugin solves that, as one thing of many “logic” flows.
The only “weakness” is the cluttered layout in the widget backend section. MANY OPTIONS. But no siteowner or client will ever see this – couse this kind of settings are to advanced – when you start to need a plugin in like this. So the purpose is not te be cosmetic or have any user experiance as a application. In most other cases Im picky about that if I do a review. “The Theme-developer is not the one who actually gonna run or maintain the site”.
Well done mr author, I can imagine all the hours of brainstorm to get the “architecture” and options playing along!
