Hi @robertboyl,
1) There’s such a possibility to set a global sort order for all the images within your NextGen galleries in “NextGen Gallery -> Other Options -> Image Options -> What’s the default sorting method?” but that will hide the settings allowing to custom sort the images from both Manage Galleries and from Insert Gallery Window.
2) I am wondering if you can try deleting then re-uploading the image that’s out of order to see if that’ll make it appear correctly sorted.
Thanks. No worries, I went album by album, but a global sort would be a neat option, perhaps you can suggest it.
Please, and the #2 question?
2) EXIF format, cant that be checked? Seems it’s the most reliable I have.
Thanks
Hi @robertboyl,
Sorry but I seem to can’t understand the 2’nd question. Can you please reformulate it in a more detailed way for us?
Thanks
Thanks a lot for reply!
So, there seem to be several places where one can check a time/date a photo was taken, correct? For example, in Irfanview, I see IPTC INFO. I also see something called EXIF, a format.
See, Googling:
How do I find EXIF data?
Viewing EXIF data in Windows is easy. Just right-click on the photo in question and select “Properties”. Click on the “Details” tab and scroll down—you’ll see all kinds of information about the camera used, and the settings the photo was taken with.
I found my photos seem to have EXIF date, I think Nextgen doesnt support/look at this data when sorting ,thats what I was hoping for, as some photos have that and not the other format which nextgen looks at to get the date.
Thanks
Hi @robertboyl,
In NextGen’s Manage Galleries, you can read what’s the imported EXIF of a specific image by pressing on Meta link/button that appears below of each thumbnail:
https://www.imagely.com/docs/manage-galleries/
NextGen normally would use the image’s EXIF date for the sorting setting so let’s check to see if the date Meta isn’t broken for those images that appear sorted in a wrong order.
