I did some tests for Category per settings.
And, I was able to setting for each categories.

In that case, sorry I think to just show the post titles is maybe not possible.
Because possible is the ‘post content action is hide’ and not possible is the ‘template tag for the post content is hide OR remove’.

I think the best way that directly edit to template of use Theme.
e.g. category.php
