It sounds like the old sound file is cached by the browser. I would try clearing the browser cache and reloading the page.
I cleared the cache in Firefox and the file is still the same when I type in my site’s url and “/wp-content/plugins/simple-ajax-chat/resources/”
It sounds like something may be interfering. What is the full URL to the sound file?
There are several files listed in that directory, which one don’t you want?
I edited my post, see above.
Okay, so then replace that file with the one that you want to use. Also replace the ogg version as a fallback.
I have deleted my old sound from my WP Media Library and have uploaded my new sound to WP Media Library and have changed the file name to msg.mp3. You’re saying I need to change the ogg file too?
First, this plugin has nothing to do with the media library. To change a file literally the only thing you need to do is change the file on the server.
Also FYI, there are two versions of the same file to provide wider support for various browsers. So, if you change one of the sound files, you should change both.
I see now. I was wondering why it wasn’t working. I appreciate your patience. Can you tell me how to get on the server again? Thanks Jeff!
This one, “To change a file literally the only thing you need to do is change the file on the server.”
Seriously? Actually I was referring to your server.. i.e., the same one that you are using to run the plugin.. please tell me you’re kidding..
