    Thanks for posting. This plugin’s widgets and forms don’t incorporate any additional spam-preventative measures other than the double opt-in method. Double opt-in definitely prevents inactive email addresses from being added to your list in MailChimp, since the subscriber address would need to be verified and confirmed by clicking a link to confirm the subscription.

    Our embed form code, provided in the MailChimp account itself, also uses the double opt-in method but does incorporate use of a “honeypot” field as a second layer of protection against spammy signups. Unfortunately this WordPress plugin relies on double opt-in as the primary security measure.
