Specific category

I am testing this plugin and it looks great but i have a question.

I want to make an app for a paper magazine, there is not a lot of news online, but in the app we want to ad several news items during the week.

So i thought it was an idea that within wordpress i create a category ‘App’, and i place newsitems within it. Now i want to config the app that it only show post from this specific category.

Is this possible? If not i create a second different wordpress site for only use the app. I are two different platforms so it is possible, but if it is possible within the same wordpress site it would be easier for me.
