Specific permalink issue with MT conversion

    I’m converting a Movable Type blog to WordPress, and am having a specific issue with the permalink date format. I’ve searched the docs and posts, but haven’t seen this specific issue.

    One of the MT date options allows you to use the month abbrevation (Jan, Feb, Mar) rather than the monthnum (01, 02, 03). Unfortunately, this is what I used, and now I have more than 1,000 posts using this date format. The Options > Permalinks > Custom panel only seems to allow %monthnum% and although I’ve seen references to “month” and “month_abbrev” variables, they don’t seem to work. Is there any way to use the month abbreviation format in the permalinks path?
