Hi,
If you use HTML tags in product descriptions, they will be stripped when importing the product into WooCommerce.
You can add the product description with HTML by using the default importer: https://woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/#create-your-csv or you can add it in your WooCommerce site directly.
I hope this provides clarity.
Igor neither of those suggestions will work.
This plugin (aka you) strongly recommends having Square as the system of record. When you do this, anything in Square will override the content in WooCommerce.
That is the entire point of this ticket.
We need to have that styling brought in from Square, since styling in Square is the only way to have styling when Square is the system of record.
Hello @rebeccagill,
Thank you for the clarification.
This plugin (aka you) strongly recommends having Square as the system of record. When you do this, anything in Square will override the content in WooCommerce.
You’re right, they will be overwritten anyway.
I recommend submitting this as a feature request on the plugin page: https://woocommerce.com/feature-requests/square/#
Also, there could be a workaround that requires some customization, if you’d like to know the weather that’s possible I recommend contacting a WooExpert.
Cheers!
Does it not seem strange that you are referring to it as a “feature request” and this is functionally that doesn’t work?
The plugin is suppose to sync product information between WooCommerce and Square. That information includes the description.
Why is it a feature request to have something you state the plugin does (sync product descriptions) fixed?
Hello Rebecca,
The plugin is suppose to sync product information between WooCommerce and Square. That information includes the description.
I have to agree with you there — ideally, the description with the full styling should be imported from Square to WooCommerce.
I wonder if this is a limitation of Square’s API or if this is indeed something missing from our plugin’s product sync feature. I’ll reach out to the developer team for clarification on that and will update this topic as soon as possible.
Best,
Any update on this ticket? It’s been two weeks without any feedback.
Hello,
Any update on this ticket? It’s been two weeks without any feedback.
Sorry for the delay, I’ve been performing some tests to understand the issue fully as initially we weren’t able to reproduce the behavior you reported.
I was able to confirm that the initial product import will not transfer HTML tags. However, subsequent updates to the product description in Square will trigger the description update and correctly import the HTML tags into WooCommerce.
This means that the ability to sync product description styling is there, but it’s not working during the initial sync for some reason. I have found an ongoing discussion on this topic in our internal code repository, so I’m sharing this case there as the team is currently working on ways to address this.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Best,
