    Hi @devjr,

I can see how frustrating it is when the Square sync takes a long time to start and complete, especially when you’re expecting it to run quickly. Let’s work through this together and get a clearer picture of what’s happening.

A few things can affect how long the sync takes:

    • The number of products being synced. Larger catalogs will naturally take longer
    • Server performance and resources on your hosting environment
    • Any delays or interruptions from scheduled actions or background processing
    • Connection latency between your site and Square

To help narrow this down, could you let me know:

    1. Approximately how many products you are syncing
    2. Whether this is the first full sync or a regular update
    3. If you see any errors under WooCommerce, Status, Logs

In the meantime, I recommend checking your scheduled actions to see if there is any backlog: https://woocommerce.com/document/understanding-the-woocommerce-system-status-report/scheduled-actions/.

Also, please ensure your site’s WP Cron is running correctly, as sync relies on background processes: https://developer.ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/cron/#what-is-wp-cron

If possible, kindly share your System Status Report via https://pastebin.com or https://quickforget.com so I can take a closer look. Looking forward to your update so we can pinpoint this further.

    Hi there!

Thank you for providing more information and sharing the system status report. I’ve reviewed it and can see that WooCommerce and the WooCommerce Square plugin are not up to date.

Could you please update both plugins to their latest versions first?

I also noticed that WP-Cron jobs are not being scheduled. If WP-Cron is disabled or not triggering reliably, scheduled actions (like the Square sync) can remain stuck in pending and take a long time to start.

Could you please try manually running the pending Square tasks and check if that works for you?

To assist you furrher, I’d also recommend checking the following:

    • Is DISABLE_WP_CRON set to true in your wp-config.php file?
    • Are you using a server-level cron job instead of WP-Cron?
    • Are other scheduled actions also delayed, or only the Square sync?

Also, I would suggest you try setting up a server-side cron job to run WP-Cron at regular intervals (for example, every 5 minutes) and see if that helps process the pending actions more consistently.

Let us know what you find.
