Square won’t connect

    We’ve recently migrated a customers website to our server.

    Since the migration everything has moved over perfectly – woocommerce, all orders, images etc.. Paypal is working but Square won’t connect – when you click on the Connect button in the plugin it goes to the Square login, once logged in it doesn’t redirect back to the website like it should and remains unconnected.

    Please advise

    Thanks for sharing those details, and great job on the successful migration! Based on what you’ve described, this sounds like a fairly common issue that can pop up after site migrations. Here are the most likely causes and steps to help resolve it:

    • Square’s connection token is tied to the site’s domain. If the URL changed during migration or there are any redirect/SSL issues, the callback may fail.
    • Square requires a valid SSL certificate. Even if one is installed, any misconfiguration can disrupt the connection.
    • The new server might be blocking outbound requests needed for Square to complete the OAuth flow.

    To resolve it:

    • Make sure your site has a valid SSL certificate and that it’s properly configured.
    • Be sure you’re the owner of the Square account
    • Disable any firewall, caching, or security plugins temporarily to see if they’re interfering.
    • Go to WooCommerce → Status and check that cURL is active, as it’s required for external API communication.
    • Head to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Square, disconnect the account, and then reconnect it.
