ssh2 works but not this plugin

Hello,

When I use your plugin, I get the error below
```
Failed to connect to SSH2 Server localhost:22<br>If SELinux is installed check to make sure that <code>httpd_can_network_connect</code> is set to 1
```
however when i try with the native ssh2 lib, it works

I have already checked selinux and its permissive. Can you think of a reason why this plugin does not work?

I prefer to use this plugin over native ssh2 lib because i don’t want to keep supplying private and public key

Can you clarify specifically exactly what you mean by “when i try with the native ssh2 lib”? You’re editing the plugin code to do something different?

Potentially the two different levels in the two different approaches could have different views on how to resolve localhost to an IP address. Try using 127.0.0.1 instead.

I tried 127.0.0.1 and got

I was able to ssh in using terminal as well

Is there any logging I can enable?

Hi,

Yes, that’s the problem. It means that your SSH server uses an encryption algorithm that phpseclib, the library used in this plugin – https://github.com/phpseclib/phpseclib/ – doesn’t support.

To support it, the plugin will need to update to the version 3 series of the phpseclib library. That can/should be done, as it only means dropping support for PHP 5.4 and 5.5 which are pretty old now anyway. As a first step I’ve made a release 0.9.0 of the plugin today which moves up from phpseclib 1.0 to phpseclib 2.0. Hopefully I can look at moving up again to 3.0 if there are no reports of problems in the next few weeks.

ah, hmm i usually use keys and have disabled password authentication on the server for security reasons

Hi,

This version – https://www.transfernow.net/dl/20241221YKOVPfba – now supports keys, as long as they are not encrypted. Tested (only) with an RSA key (which was all that previous versions supported, but phpseclib3 supports other types too). Works for me (tested positively, and with an incorrect key also).
