Myself and others are having issues with the Link Checker plug-in with websites using SSL https (Let’s Encrypt etc.). See earlier posts. Are there plans to resolve the issues? If not, your confirmation would be appreciated as we’ll need to investigate an alternative plugin fairly urgently.

Can anyone recommend a good alternative plug-in?

  • I am having the same problem. My website has an SSL certificate installed and this plugin is not working on my SSL website. This plugin however, works fine on my other website which does not have SSL. So it must be an SSL issue. The debug info shows Synch. records 0, Unparsed items 0, Link records 0 (0).

Anybody know of an alternative plugin?

I noticed that out of around 20 SSL HTTPS websites using Link Checker, only 4 of them were showing the symptoms (multiple broken links, not actually broken).

On each of the four websites, I tried running the ‘nuclear option’ for rechecking:

    1. Settings > Link checker
    2. Advanced tab: Forced recheck – Re-check all pages

This has cleared all the incorrectly reported broken links and resolved the issue. Could be just temporary but I’ll recheck again in a weeks time. So for now, I’m happy. 🙂

Thanks for the tip. Broken Link Checker seems to be working now on my https website. To fix the problem, I clicked on the Advanced tab, Re-check all pages button “Nuclear Option” and now the debug info shows all green.

My website stalled for about 20 seconds after clicking on the “Re-check all pages” button and I was somewhat worried but afterwards Broken Link Checker works.
