Importing seating plans.
The “Import Template” facility is intended to be used to overwrite the StageShow generated seating template, and would generally be used with the seating plan that the template was exported from. It is possible to import a template to another seating plan, but in that case the zone specifications for the new must be compatible, and every seat included in the imported template but be included in the zone specifications for the new seating plan. So if you want to use a new seating plan, either copy the zone specs from the original seating plan, or create zone specs that include all the same seats (but not necessarily in the same zones).
Importing a seating template does not change the zone specifications for the seating plan it is imported into.
Shortcodes
Are the shortcodes output unaltered (i.e. as you typed them) or are they changed to empty output?
Note that you will only get Box-Office output if there are valid performances with seats that have prices, the performances are for forthcoming dates and are not disabled.
If you are still having problems, take a copy of your StageShow database using the Backup button on the tools page, email it to me and I’ll have a look.

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for your reply. Re: Importing seating plans. I only really need the one seating plan. I was intending to use the Export/Import facility to create an identical plan for the next Show, with a different Price plan. I am quite ok with creating the zones and copy/pasting the code into each zone if that is the best way.
Shortcodes: I’ve followed your instructions and the Box Office is now showing. Thank you. I did not have the Price plan allocated to the Performance.
One further question: Sometimes it will be necessary to make certain seats Unavailable to the public. (eg. Placing a sound desk at the back of the theatre; saving seats for VIPs, etc) I have created an “Admin Only” price of 0.01 in order to “buy” these seats before the seating plan goes public. Is this ok?
Thanks again,
Barrie.

You can use a seating plan for as many shows/performances as you like, as long as the zones are the same.
To “block out” seats you could use the Reservation feature. This will allow you to allocate seats to yourself without any notional payment. Note: Change the Capabilities of any users that have a login and could buy tickets so that StageShow_Reservations capability is disabled.
Thanks again. Yes, the Reservation method would be preferable. I’ll give it a try.
Is it possible to add HTML instructions/comments to the page on which your seats are selected?
Barrie.
I’ve now got another problem.
I have tried to test my seating plan sales.
When I click on “Show Available Seats” the page loads the seating plan in yellow then immediately overwrites in green. I can hover over a seat to show the seat number (eg. B6) but clicking on the seat does nothing to select it.
The site/page is;
http://rhyllittletheatre.co.uk/whats-on/buy-tickets/a-musical-mystery-tour/
I have tried to take a copy of the StageShow database using the Backup button on the tools page without success.
Error message says; stageshow_db_eport.php Failed – Network error

The “Show Available Seats” seats button does just that … shows you which seats are available and nothing else (somebody wanted it!). To select seats a user first chooses what show/performance and ticket type they want and then they can select which seats before proceeding to checkout.
I’ve re-tested the Tools->Backup option on trial sites on both Windows and Linux servers and both worked OK. This function redirects to stageshow_db_export.php in the wp-content/plugins/stageshowgold/admin directory (was there a typo in your post?) so you need to have the appropriate permissions for this to happen. I suspect that file access permissions is the problem.
Hi Malcolm,
I thought there must be a different way to select seats. When I choose the show/performance/ticket type and then select seats, there is no “Checkout” option on my shopping trolley, only “Remove” “Select Seats” and “Update prices”. How do I proceed to checkout?
Yes, there was a typo in my post, sorry. The “x” key on my keyboard is dodgy!
Thanks,
Barrie.

HI Barrie
You get the “Checkout” button once all the seats have been chosen for the selected tickets. I’ve had a quick look at your site, and it looks like you have the “No of seats” for each ticket price set to 8. This will allocate 8 seats for each ticket, so you don’t get the option to check out until all 8 seats have been selected.
Hope that helps!
Malcolm
Hi Malcolm,
That helps enormously, thank you.
I’ve amended the Price plan and linked it with a new Performance and it is working nicely.
Many thanks for your kind help and patience.
Barrie.
