    Good day,

    WP 3.9.3 / plugin 2.6.4

During last years plugin has been catching spam perfectly.
Starting from beginning of this month some spam comments have managed to get through the defence on regular basis.

Typical signature – web-link inserted to the “e-mail” field.

    Examples:

Name: bogner fire and ice ski pants
    E-mail: [moderated]
    IP: [moderated]
    Text: [moderated]

    Name: ugg mens boots
    E-mail: [moderated]
    Ip: [moderated]
    Text: [moderated]

    Name: giuseppe zanotti france
    E-mail: [moderated]
    IP: [moderated]

I could block it by IP (always Chinese) but would be nice to have a future filtering comments with web-link in the Name or E-mail field.

PS: My respect to the author – in general plugin is working perfectly for many years and it’s lightweight which is important.

    Best regards,
    Alex

  • Same here. Started a few days ago that I have 5 to 10 unrecognized spam comments. Never happened before.

I noticed an increase recently too. It used to stop virtually everything. Now I get about 5 – 10 daily as well which is not a ton but the sudden difference is noticeable compared to how near-perfect it has been for many months. I wonder what these spammers are doing different.

Hi, is your results based on the latest version or on the previous version? I am just curious.

    Thank you

I haven’t seen any spam come through for a long time after having activated the free Blacklist Updater plugin as an additional counter measure.

Caspar, do you suggest Blacklist Updater as “must have” to Antispam Bee to avoid spam coming through?

I also had some spam comments coming through ever since the “language”-settings had to be excluded from Antispam Bee and tonight there were approx. 35 Spam-comments for moderation on one of my clients Website.

Is there any update on Antispam Bee planned due to that? Just curious.

@michaela I wouldn’t say Blacklist Updater is a must-have. Whether or not it makes sense will totally depend on your settings I guess. I’m not technically versed enough to provide any recommendation here. I just tested, let it run for a while and less spam comments seemed to get past ASB, so I kept it.

I can’t comment on the language feature for ASB at this point other than it’s very clear many users would like to have it back.

Blacklist Updater is not a must have for Antispam Bee, but the two work well together and address somewhat different needs.

At the moment we’re trying to bring back the language detection feature.

If there’s still spam passing through, let us know with the complete comment data in a Pastebin or similar.

Pascal, great to here that the language detection feature might come back. This was a very valuable future in the past.

I realize that by now more comments are passing through and sometimes my very own replies to comments are registered as Spam. But I found out that unchecking “Trust previous comments” helps a lot. Maybe some spammers found a hole to get through with this function.
