I should have mentioned that I am running WordPress on my local machine under Xampp. I guess my question is how do I get to the login screen again?
You still need to login to your WordPress. That will give you the dashboard where you can add Pages, posts, widgets, etc. to your theme.
Enter your site address with /wp-admin at the end.

Is there a way to check a file to see what I entered originally for the name? If not is there a way to start over? It seems that no matter what I try I’m unable to launch the admin panel.
You are not live on the internet correct? Or do you have a URL?
Yes, you can check your WordPress data base for that information.

No, not live on the net. Trying to build a site locally first. I do have a site already up that I plan on replacing. My site that is live today is a .org name. I assume the I need to enter my site locally as a .com on to try and access the admin panel? In any case I can’t get it to launch after trying every possible combination of the name that I can think of.
mine is at
http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin
yours should be similar
edit – whoops – without .com
