Hi. I’m totally new to using an ad plugin and am trying to figure out of Advanced Ads is the right plugin. Currently, I simply have some PHP code / shortcode that I wrote that randomizes an add to show. However, this is not scalable as it all by hand and “dumb”.

I’m wondering if Advanced Ads can let me:
    – create sets of static images
    – create ad groups to use those groups of static images
    – a/b test the static images from the groups to see what works best

All the ads are for products I sell on my site, so I don’t need any kind of other ad network. I just want static ads to link to my shopify store – dead simple. Is Advanced Ads the right tool?

  • Hi dbonneville,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Advanced Ads offers several ad types. For your case, the image ad type would be the best choice. You can create as many ad units as you want.

You can assign each single ad unit to placements or add them to groups and send those groups to your placements. Advanced Ads offers multiple options to rotate ads. See more explanations of the ad groups in our manual, please.

I recommend using the random rotation mode to configure an A/B test with the images of the same group. I also use this kind of a-b-tests on my websites to determine which picture ads perform best. All you need is the Tracking add-on, which records the clicks and impressions for each ad and shows you the CTR values for each ad.

I prefer to run the ads until there is a significant number of impressions for each ad. Then, I compare the performance and remove those displays whose performance is not good enough.

    Best regards,
    Joachim
