Static or Dynamic API?

I am currently using a different mapping plugin. All of a sudden, Google is charging me hundreds of dollars in API usage fees. The plugin I’m using is using the Dynamic (JavaScript) API. Apparently there would be no charge from Google if I was using the Static Maps API. Is that possible with this plugin?

Unfortunately, our plugin doesn’t support the Static API. In addition, Google will bill you for Static API requests too:
