I took a look and did not see any obvious reasons for the drop today. Did you make any changes to the site today (or yesterday)? There are only a few plugins/programs which cause problems with the stats. There are:
- Complianz – GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent
- LiteSpeed Cache
- Cloudflare Rocket Loader
Do you know if any of these are installed on your site or your webserver?
No, I did not… WordPress was updated Wednesday evening to 6.4.2. And I have these: CookieYes | GDPR Cookie Consent and WP-Optimize – Clean, Compress, Cache. But I had those almost since day 1 (same with Jetpack). I turned this -Core Web Vitals & PageSpeed Booster- plugin of recently, because it seemed to interfere with Jetpack boost?
As mentioned before I am having issues with Google Search Console due to another plugin (that I deactivated), but that is not something that started yesterday or even recently…. Plus the impact is/was noticeable, but not that drastic.
Hello there – I see a similar drop for Dec 8 as well, so it might be possible it’s a coincidence and there is no real issue. On our side, there is not connection problem.
However, if you continue to see the drop in traffic, I would recommend deactivating the “CookieYes | GDPR Cookie Consent” plugin and see if that creates a difference.
Until then, you may use the Cookies & Consent Banner feature from Jetpack.
I will keep an eye on things! If it happens again, I’ll switch plugins to if that changes things. Thanks
