StatPress reading

My website is hosted in Australia and contains a lot of Australian content. StatPress shows most of my visitors come from Northern Europe – non English speaking countries – which is ok but was not my intention.
Is there a simple reason for this?
Do search engines put different listings in different global areas?
I am assembling my website from a computer in Thailand, does that make any difference?
These are possibly not WordPress issues but I am puzzled. Can some one enlighten me here?
