I found out that subscribers receive a confirmation email that is incorrect.
They did not receive the correctconfirmation emaile !!!
If I click on manual confirmation the subscriber receives my correct signup confirmation email and then the confirmation works.

Thanks for writing. Sorry for the issue with your confirmation email.
Make sure that your confirmation email is setup correctly. Go to MailPoet Settings > Sign-up Confirmation > Email Content, and check that you’re using the short code: [activation_link]Confirm your subscription.[/activation_link]
