There have been no updates for some time due to issues with caching. I have not yet decided if I will continue to maintain the plugin or attempt to update it. I am currently investigating a way to create similar functionality with JavaScript.

Correct. The core is based http://mobiledetect.net/ and can easily be updated with a newer version if you find it is not working as expected.
