My site needs a front-page banner with an aspect ratio of about 19:6 (1900×600 works well). I’ve been through a lot of stuff on Shutterstock, but everything I can find is 16:9.

The Shutterstock images don’t really resize well, because the interesting bits fill the frame, and I need a narrow strip through the frame.

Any suggestions for other sources? AI would probably work, since I only need images of datacentres, but it looks like I have to pay for a subscription somewhere before trying out stuff like changing aspect ratios.

    Thanks.

Even if this really has little to do with WordPress … I would recommend https://picsum.photos/. There you can generate a random image with the dimensions you want.

Alternatively: look for a suitable image in your sources and cut it to the desired dimensions (losing individual sections of the original).

Granted, not directly related to WordPress, but this must be something that almost all WP users have had to do. Picsum is a nice site, but unfortunately not much use without an image search (and I need a specific image).

I did find a good answer though – AI image generators will rescale (‘upscale’) an existing image for you, creating content to fill in the missing strips, so you can arbitrarily change the aspect ratio. I’m getting good results with Stable Diffusion XL (currently via tensor.art; nightcafe doesn’t let you change aspect ratios).

It may not be a large resource, but it is absolutely free to use.
