Hi – does this plugin require Stock Management to be enabled?

Basically we receive stock updates via a feed from WP All Import. However we don’t currently track stock levels, just the Stock Status ie whether the product is in stock or out of stock. I could feed a dummy value (eg in stock = 100 units, out of stock = 0 units) but this seems a bit drastic just to get stock alerts working.

    I saw this support thread:

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/no-notifications-when-stock-changed-from-other-plugin/

in which you said “if stock status is changed from ‘outofstock’ then the plugin automatically fires a mail,” however if Stock Management has to be enabled then actually there is a secondary requirement, that the inventory is > 0, or else you cannot set the stock status from ‘outofstock’.

    Thanks for your attention.

  • @jlev00 Product Stock alert checks the inventory each time and whenever the stock is below 0 this will send an automatic mail. So you don’t need any other plugin for this.

Hi Moumita – thanks for the reply.

Sorry, what do you mean “each time”?

Also, I wanted to know whether you need Woocommerce Stock Management turned on in order for your plugin to work. It’s the option in the Woocommerce Settings, under Products –> Inventory.

Depending on the site I’m building I often leave it turned off. Have you tested your plugin with Stock Management turned off?

@jlev00 Whenever user will view any product, it checks whether the product is in stock. If it is out of stock, this will replace the “Add to Cart” button.

And Yes, you have to enable “Manage Stock” under WooCoomerce >> Settings >> Products >> Manage Stock
