Hi Tom
Sounds like something happened to your cron server (this is the timing scheduler built into WordPress). What I would try is going into the feed to post admin, unchecking the activate box – save, then checking it again and save. This is like rebooting the cron scheduler for the plugin.
Thanks, Allen, for the quick response.
I actually tried just that. Then I went into the wp crons and noted that the cron was there for the plugin. I tried manually clicking the fetch several times and on several of the multisite subsites, but nothing. The plugin claims that all posts have been aggregated, but nothing is.
Again, I’m on the most recent 4.0 alpha, so I’m not expecting you to jump through any hoops. I have several other sites that are running 3.9.1 and they are working well with the plugin.

ok…I develop on the alpha version of WP…I’ll see if I can reproduce the problem on my 4.0 alpha.

also, can you download the plugin WP Crontrol which will tell you what’s running in cron – you should see schedules for the plugin there, when they are supposed to run, etc.
also, make sure you have downloaded the most updated version of the plugin as there was a bug in one version that got fixed.
Here’s from the cron:
2014-05-23 12:37:41 – 1400805461 2154 Once Hourly wp_rss_multi_event
2014-05-23 12:38:53 – 1400805533 2226 Once Hourly wp_rss_multi_event_feedtopost
I’m using the latest. I think I updated it yesterday or the day before.

ok…that says you have it set to fire every hour. If the posts aren’t coming in, then check whether they are in the posts section of wordpress (as scheduled posts)…this can happen if the timing of the server is off…see this:
http://www.wprssimporter.com/faqs/my-posts-are-showing-up-with-the-wrong-time/
Next, go to your trash, and permanently delete the trash (the plugin won’t bring in any post if it is the trash, but not permanently deleted).
Finally, you can get more control of the cron scheduler by reading this:
http://www.wprssimporter.com/faqs/how-to-have-more-control-over-scheduling-of-feteching-feeds/
Beyond this, I have no idea why the feeds aren’t coming in except that a) there are no new feed items, or b) the server is blocking the rss feed items from coming in.
Thanks.
Nothing in the trash of any of my 30 some sites (multisite), and nothing pending. Nothing changed on the 18th, which was the last day that the plugin imported into each of these sites. Before that it worked flawlessly. The only thing that changed that date, was an auto update of one of the alpha versions.
I’ll do some more digging as time allows.

ok..the only other possible thing is that that the feeds themselves do not have new items…..did you put the feeds into a firefox browser’s address bar to see if in fact there are new items?
Yes, I did. The feeds include Breitbart, Huffington, EU Times, NY Times, and probably at least 20 other local publications that I aggregate from in major cities. I did check the major ones in a browser and noted that they had more recent data. I usually retrieve around 400 or so articles every day.

ok..then the only next thing is to have you change a file in the plugin..you can try this:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3132388/pluginfiles/import_posts.php
then when you click to fetch the feeds, there should be a message that a server connection wasn’t made. That’s my best guess at what’s happening.

Sorry for the delay. Been at the sailboat for the last several days.
I uploaded the first file to our server and clicked fetch, and it worked. It imported a batch of articles. I’m going to try to work with my other sites and make sure that they are all importing, too. Limited bandwidth here at the boat, so it’s a little difficult.
It will be great if this fixes the problem. I am aggregating with a back up plugin, but I don’t like it as well as I like yours.
Thanks for all the help here!
