Hey guys, we are having very strange issue(s) with the latest version of Revisions plugin.

As soon as we create a new revision and set some future date/time, both buttons Submit and Approve become disabled. We need to click Save draft and reload the page to enable them again.

After reload, as soon as we click the Submit button both buttons disappears. Again, we need to reload the whole page. After the reload we can see the Approve button. Once we click it, it disappears but nothing happens. We reload the page and Approve button reappears again. We can repeat this infinitely, button just disappears but revision is never approved.

When we go to Revisions Queue, we can see the revision in Submitted status. When we select it and choose Approve from the Bulk Actions dropdown, the revision is approved and published according to the schedule.

So the whole scheduled publishing works but admin doesn’t work very well. The Approve button doesn’t work at all and reloading page after every action is not what we expect.

Our posts are built on custom Gutenberg blocks with custom ACF fields. We realise that ACF support is only in Pro version but it doesn’t look like these issues are related to that. We would love to buy Pro version but need to be sure that these issue can be resolved.

    Any help is really appreciated.

    Hi @igorlopasovsky

    Thanks for using our plugin.

I just spin up a fresh WordPress installation and did not face this issue. Can you please try it on your end? Can you see the issue here: https://tastewp.com/plugins/revisionary/ ?

    Thanks,

Riza, thank you very much for reply and creating a testing environment. I tested it on 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox and Safari), always in the incognito mode to be sure that no extensions are causing this issue. It behaves the same everywhere.

Here’s the short list of all steps I always do:

    1. Create new revision for Hello World post.
    2. Change something in the first paragraph.
    3. Set time to something in the near future. As soon as I do this, both buttons become disabled.
    4. Click Save draft and reload the page. Both buttons become active again.
    5. Click Submit button and reload the page. Approve button appears.
    6. Click Approve button, it disappears. The button is back after the reload. I can repeat this step infinitely and nothing happens.
    7. Go to Revisions Queue. My revision is there with status Submitted, not Approved/Scheduled.

    Am I doing something wrong?

@igorlopasovsky To summarize, it seems you have 2 queries:

    1. Submit or Approve button is disabled after make changes
    2. Approved button failed to move the revisions to Approved/Scheduled

For first issue, the Submit / Approve revision button disable is intentional to prevent the misconception that those buttons double as an implicit Update button for unsaved changes.

While for second issue, I still have no luck replicate it. Do you mind sharing some screencast on how it behaves on your end? Please show it on fresh WordPress installation to prevent plugin conflict.

    Thanks,

@rizaardiyanto Thank you very much for the reply.

Here’s the screencast of the whole process https://we.tl/t-VseTr1qK00. Fresh WordPress installation, PublishPress Revision as the only installed plugin, default Twenty Twenty-Five theme.

    Thank you for your help.

@rizaardiyanto Thank you very much for creating the screencast for me. It makes perfect sense now. So the only issue with the approval was that I was impatient as it takes a while.

Maybe a small feature suggestion. It would be great if there’s some kind of loading indicator after you hit the Approve button so it’s obvious that it still working.

Anyway, many thanks again, we are pushing it to our client and upgrading to Pro version.
