Strange behavor when deactivating plugin

Hi,

Been using this plugin for well over a year and decided to deactivate it to do some speed tests. Strangely, when I deactivate it some elements of my site stops working. For example, the smart slider in my header disappears and the raw short codes are displayed instead. Also, my profile pic plugin does the same thing. It displays the raw shortcode instead of the plugin. Both of those plugins are displayed using the “custom html” widget.

This is very odd as these plugins are totally separated and I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting.
