Strange problem with prev/next nav

I have a strange problem.
I started with some PNG images on a slider, and it worked great in Chrome, but not in Explorer. I did some research, and found out about the problem with the png images, so I switched the slider to jpgs.
Now, after doing that, I am not able to get the previous/next buttons to work at all on any of my browsers. They were overlapping, but I increased the width to bigger than the images, and still no joy.
I am having the same problem with a brand new slider. The arrows show, but clicking them has no effect.
